Terms of Service

Version 2026-10-09-v2

NeuroHub Publishing is run by NeuroHub Community Ltd (“we”, “us”), part of NeuroHub Community. We help neurodivergent authors take a book from first draft to finished, published product. These terms are written to be read. If anything is unclear, please ask us before you sign up.

1. Who we publish

NeuroHub Publishing publishes books by neurodivergent authors. By creating an account and again each time you submit a book, you declare that you are a neurodivergent author (for example autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, dyspraxic, or otherwise neurodivergent, whether formally identified, awaiting assessment or self-identified), that the book is your own work, and that you are submitting it in good faith.

We trust our community and don't ask for medical evidence. If we have good reason to believe a declaration was not made honestly, we may decline or remove a book and close an account.

2. Our values

NeuroHub Community is built by neurodivergent people, for neurodivergent people. We are neuro-affirming and we centre authenticity, peer support, lived experience and empowerment. We exist to create a supportive space where neurodivergent adults feel understood, and to challenge stigma. Everything we publish should reflect those values.

3. Content standards

We will only publish content that fits the values and ethics of NeuroHub Community. Specifically, we will not publish content that:

  • pathologises, demeans or dehumanises neurodivergent people, or presents neurodivergence as something to be cured, fixed or eliminated;
  • promotes or endorses practices that aim to make neurodivergent people appear “normal” against their wellbeing, or other harmful so-called therapies;
  • contains hate, discrimination, harassment or threats against any person or group;
  • spreads health misinformation or presents medical, legal or financial advice as fact when it is not;
  • targets, exposes or exploits real people, including children, or shares private information without consent;
  • is illegal, defamatory, or infringes someone else's copyright or other rights;
  • glorifies self-harm, abuse or violence in a way that could harm vulnerable readers, or lacks appropriate care where such themes are part of an honest story.

Writing about difficult experiences honestly is welcome. We are looking for care, not censorship. We decide whether a book fits these standards, and we will explain our reasons. If we decline a book, we will tell you why and, if we have not yet started work on it, refund the publishing fee for that book.

4. Your book and your rights

  • You own your book. You keep the copyright in everything you write.
  • You promise the book is your own work (or that you have permission to use anything that isn't), and that it does not break anyone's rights or the law.
  • If you used AI tools to help write your book, you are responsible for the result and for being honest about it with us.
  • When you submit a book for publishing, you give us permission to format it, design its cover, and publish and distribute it on the platforms we agree with you, for as long as it is published.
  • Your book is published under the imprint “NeuroHub Community”, with you credited as the author.

5. The Book Builder and your editorial team

The Book Builder lets you write and organise your book. Your editorial team (the Editor, the Copy Editor and the Editorial Assistant) supports you with suggestions. They never change your book unless you accept a suggestion, and the book stays yours.

Suggestions may be produced by software, including artificial intelligence, and can be wrong. You are responsible for what you accept and for the final content of your book. We keep your original imports so you never lose your words.

6. The Branding House and your cover

The Branding House is where you describe your brand as an author. When you submit a book, we share your brand profile with our team so they can design your cover. Cover design is included in the publishing fee. The cover design remains subject to the content standards above.

7. Publishing with us

  • Publishing costs a one-time fee for each book (shown on our pricing page). It covers formatting and preparing your book, your cover design, and setting up and publishing it on your chosen independent publishing platform, or a suitable alternative we agree with you.
  • The fee covers our work. The platform you publish on (for example Amazon KDP, Kobo or BookVault) has its own royalty and pricing terms, which apply once your book is live.
  • You choose where you would like to publish. If a platform is not suitable, we will agree an alternative with you before going ahead.
  • We will tell you the status of your book as it moves from received, to in progress, to published.
  • We cannot guarantee sales, rankings or reviews.

8. Subscriptions, books and payment

  • The Book Builder is available as a monthly subscription. Extra books, and the Professional plan for several books, are priced as shown on the pricing page when you buy.
  • Subscriptions renew monthly until you cancel. You can cancel at any time and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • You can download your whole book as a Word document at any time, including after you cancel, for as long as we hold it.
  • Payments are handled securely by our payment provider. We do not store your card details.
  • Refunds and your right to cancel are explained in section 9.
  • Access codes unlock the products they say they do and cannot be exchanged for money.

9. Refunds and cancellation

Subscriptions (Book Builder, extra books, Professional)

  • You can cancel at any time from your billing page. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • We do not refund the part of a subscription period that is left after you cancel.
  • The Book Builder is a digital service that starts as soon as you pay. At checkout you ask us to start immediately and you acknowledge that, once it has started, you lose the 14-day right to cancel and get a refund that you would otherwise have for online purchases.

Publishing (the per-book fee)

  • Publishing is a one-time fee for each book. Once you have paid it, you cannot be refunded more than 40% of what you paid, however far we have got. This applies to refunds you ask for.
  • At checkout you ask us to start work immediately and acknowledge that you lose the 14-day right to cancel once the service has started.
  • If we decline your book under our content standards, or we are unable to publish it, we will refund the fee in full if we have not yet started work, and refund a fair amount for any work not done if we have. The 40% limit does not apply to these cases.

Nothing in these terms takes away any legal right you have that cannot be removed by agreement, including your rights if a service is not provided with reasonable care and skill, or is not as described.

10. Your account

Keep your login details private. You are responsible for what happens on your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we close an account for a reason other than a breach, we will give you time to download your work.

11. Our responsibility

We take care in the services we provide, but we can't promise they will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under law that cannot be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.

12. Your data

We use your information to run your account and publish your book. We only share it with the providers who help us do that (such as payment and hosting), and with the platforms you ask us to publish on. We do not sell your information. Please see the privacy and AI policies on neurohubcommunity.org for more.

13. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will ask you to accept the new version before you carry on. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can contact us through neurohubcommunity.org.
